Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Pamela Roth — a journalist, animal lover, and explorer with a beaming smile that seldom disappears.

For the past nine years, I've been a journalist and spend my days penning chilling articles for the Edmonton Sun as a crime reporter. It's an interesting gig to say the least, especially in a city dubbed "Deadmonton," which broke its record for murders in 2011 with 48 slayings to become the murder capital of Canada.

When I'm not covering murder and mayhem in Alberta's capital city, I'm searching for the next big adventure in a far off land I've never been before.

​

I grew up in the Town of Whitecourt, located nearly two hours northwest of Edmonton. After graduating from high school, I moved to Calgary where I eventually enrolled in the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) journalism program at the advice of my parents.

​

It didn't take long before I landed my first reporter job at a weekly paper in Okotoks. A few years later, I made the jump to the daily newspaper market with the Lethbridge Herald, working the court and crime beat. I eventually left Alberta for a general assignment reporter position with the Regina Leader-Post in Saskatchewan. It was here that I had my most nerve-wracking interview yet with the one and only Peter Mansbridge — the king of interviews.

Aside from journalism and globe trotting, I have many hobbies and interests that keep me busy. These include snowboarding, yoga, camping, hiking, walking, biking, listening to jazz, drawing, reading and eating Sushi.​

I try to make a point of living life to the fullest because you never know what the next day will bring. My, how time flies when you're having fun.
